IMMEDIATE OPENING

The City of Tom Bean, TX. is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position in the Public Works Department.
PRIMARY DUTY: Under supervision, performs basic labor tasks in support of the installation, repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection facilities, streets, equipment and infrastructure for the City of Tom Bean.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. A valid Texas Class C Driverís License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: Heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be capable of performing in confined space and/or on uneven low traction surfaces.

THE CONDITIONS THE WORKER WILL BE SUBJECT TO IN THIS POSITION: The work is performed primarily within outside environmental conditions. Applicant is subject to environmental conditions common to this region. Activities occur primarily outside with temperatures that may be below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. Duties may require exposure to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Weekends are in rotation and on call emergency response as needed is mandatory.

Applicant will possess or obtain a Ground Water Operator License and Wastewater Operator License within 24 months of hire or in a time frame determined by the Public Works Director.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs general labor work and uses basic tools, vehicles and equipment to assist in the maintenance and repair of W/WW facilities, equipment and infrastructure; follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; performs duties within scope of authority and training; duties may vary depending on job assignment and individual skills. Supports the relationship between the City of Tom Bean and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interaction with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

We plan on having bands, food , vendors and hoping to make it bigger and better than last year . Last year we brought approx. 2,000 people into Tom Bean ...... Water and Wastewater rate changes

The City is required by Section 128 of the City of Tom Bean Comprehensive Water and Wastewater Plan to deliver a statement of intent to each utility account holder at least 30 days before the effective date of the change. The effective date of the new rates must be the first day of a billing period, and the new rates may not apply to service received before the effective date of the new rates.
The effective date of the change is anticipated to be September 15, 2018. The City Council of the City of Tom Bean approved the 8% rate increase at an open meeting on August 13, 2018.

Water & Sewer rates will increase by 8% starting September 15th. Approved by City Council 08/13/2018.
