December Board BriefsDecember 14, 2009 7:00PMDecember Board BriefsTom Bean Independent School District The Board of Trustees of the Tom Bean Independent School District held the regular monthly board meeting on Monday, December 14, 2009. President, Joe Jaska called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Brian Trentman led the invocation. The minutes of November 16, 2009 along with the Financial Reports were approved as presented. The 2009-2010 monthly comparison of the electricity charges was presented in comparison to the 2008-2009 charges. The District is $1,836.97 below the 2008-2009 total charges from July through November. Student of the Month recognition and plaques were presented to the recipients from each campus. Teachers selected the candidates based on their attitude, behavior, and character. The recipients included: Kelsey Hodgdon (EL); Evan Howard (MS); and Phillip Peterman (HS). Each of the campus principals gave a report with the total enrollment, attendance, discipline, number of walk-through evaluations, number of teacher absences, newsletters, and current events for the rest of December and January. John Orozco gave his curriculum report which stated that the District has established a continuous improvement plan to enhance our PBMAS (Performance- Based Monitoring Analysis System). The Performance-Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) is an automated data system that reports annually on the performance of school districts and charter schools in selected program areas (bilingual education/English as a second language, career and technical education, special education, and certain Title programs under the No Child Left Behind Act). In addition, he notified the Board that the school district is now involved in 25 Math Facts Matter, provided by Region 10, to help recall math facts, math fact fluency, and comprehension. He has attended several meeting concerning curriculum and federal reports. The Board of Trustees approved the 2009 Tax Roll Values from the office of the Assessor and Collector of Taxes in Grayson County. Presently, the Tom Bean ISD tax roll value is $151,616,456 and the tax levy is $1,710,975.67. The special assessment levy is currently $7,592.78. The Board approved the Superintendent’s Evaluation Instrument as presented. It includes 13 job performance statements that reflect the major responsibilities of the superintendent in managing the District. The superintendent’s appraisal will also include the Domain of the AEIS(Academic Excellence Indicator System). The Board of Trustees considered a Level 3 grievance from a parent in which they approved the Level 2 decision of the administrator.
