November Board BriefsNovember 17, 2008, 7:00PMThe Board of Trustees of the Tom Bean Independent School District held the regular monthly board meeting on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 7:00PM. President, Joe Jaska called the meeting to order at 7:05PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Kristi Donaldson led the invocation.The minutes of October 20, 2008 board meeting along with the Financial Reports for the month were approved as presented. Student of the Month recognition and plaques were presented to the recipients from each campus. Recipients included Lyndsey McGraw (Elementary); Brok Shields (Middle School); and Brandon Barrow (High School). Teachers selected the candidates based on their attitude, behavior, and character. Each of the campus principals gave a report with the total enrollment, attendance, discipline, number of walk-through evaluations, number of teacher absences, newsletters, and current events for November and December. In addition, the campus administrators gave the certified AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System) campus reports for the 2008 testing. The Board of Trustees approved Legal and Local Update 84 with new changes in the Board policy. They also approved a one-time staff incentive plan. Peggy Miller was hired as the Tom Bean ISD business manager, and her signature was added to the signature cards at the banks. Our local policy CDA states: all investments of District money must be approved by the Board. They approved the investment of District funds consistent with the strategies and maturities defined in this policy. The informational items included continuing Tom Bean ISD's contract with IESI from Sherman as well as the Superintendent giving a district report of the AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System), AYP (Average Yearly Progress), and the PBMAS (Performance-Based Monitoring Analysis System). The total tax collections for 2007 were $1,575,865.13.
