January Board BriefsJanuary 19, 2009, 7:00PMJanuary Board BriefsTom Bean Independent School District The Board of Trustees of the Tom Bean Independent School District held the regular monthly board meeting on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7:00PM. Vice-President, David Harrison called the meeting to order at 7:05PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Kim Jones led the invocation. The minutes of December 15, 2008 along with the Financial Reports were approved as presented. Student of the Month recognition and plaques were presented to the recipients from each campus. Teachers selected the candidates based on their attitude, behavior, and character. The recipients included: Alexa Holloway (EL); Bret Shields (MS); and Tyler Ellis (HS). Each of the campus principals gave a report with the total enrollment, attendance, discipline, number of walk-through evaluations, number of teacher absences, newsletters, and current events for January. The Migrant Handbook, the Drop-Out Handbook, and the ESL Handbook were approved for the District. Kathy Garrison, Superintendent of Tom Bean ISD, was given an extension to her contract along with Mrs. Lisa Harrelson being hired on a one-year probationary contract for the 2009-2010 school year. The Superintendent’s gave a report to the Board explaining the Agricultural vehicle, re-stripping the track, and the Claims Administrative Services Scholarship the District received. For our Safety record as a school district, Tom Bean ISD received a $500.00 scholarship for a high school student. Mr. David Harrison presented the Board with the number of training hours they have completed for the 2008-2009 school year.
