March Board BriefsMarch 23, 2009, 7:00PMThe Board of Trustees of the Tom Bean Independent School District held the regular monthly board meeting on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 7:00PM. President, Joe Jaska called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Steve Book led the invocation.The minutes of February 16, 2009 along with the Financial Reports were approved as presented. Student of the Month recognition and plaques were presented to the recipients from each campus. Teachers selected the candidates based on their attitude, behavior, and character. The recipients included: Kelsey Ulmer (EL); Kristian Miller (MS); and Maggie Moore (HS). State Qualifiers in Band were recognized and given a certificate for their accomplishment by the Board members. Those included were: Jessica Boren, Maranda Hamilton, Nick Ellis, Parker Ellis, Tucker Salsman, Phillip Harris, Tyler Palmer, Phillip Peterman, Alex Higgins, and Andrew Chastain. Tom Bean High School had one State Qualifier in Powerlifting. The Board presented Anna Winslett a certificate for her dedication and accomplishment. Each of the campus principals gave a report with the total enrollment, attendance, discipline, number of walk-through evaluations, number of teacher absences, newsletters, and current events for March. There was a Budget amendment approved by the board to move existing funds to cover the salaries of certified and non-certified staff members. The Cheerleading Handbook was approved by the Board for the upcoming school year. It was decided that the qualifications to become a cheerleader will be added to all campus student handbooks. The Region X Service Center Contract was approved for the 2009-2010 school year along with Rutherford & Taylor chosen to represent Tom Bean ISD as our school auditors. The Tom Bean ISD Board of Trustees accepted recommendations from the Superintendent to employ all certified staff for the 2009-2010 school year. They also accepted resignations from Kevin Colston and Ronald Kumler. In addition, the Board accepted the termination of Mr. Perry Montgomery, Secondary Science instructor. Kathy Garrison
